Read on/PermalinkA look at The Snow Queen’s costume design - Part 5 Circus Freaks: Bendy Brenda
We conclude our brief look at the costume design for the Snow Queen with the design for one of our ‘circus freaks’ Bendy Brenda the contortionist.
The characters:
“They are a close gang of misfits who protect and help each other in their little circus group, yet remain ‘apart’ from the rest of the world, they do however show the real warmth of friendship and loyalty, they are made up of Max Muscle, the ex-strong man (pic attached) Bendy Brenda, the contortionist (pic attached), Goatboy, the real freak side show boy due to a physical deformity and Tommy Trumpet the street urchin with a talent for music.”
The costumes:
“The circus freaks are made up of a collision of cultural images and Circus, broken down by neglect.”

A look at The Snow Queen’s costume design - Part 3 The Flower Lady
Part 3 of our series looking at Paul Shriek’s costume designs for The Snow Queen.
The character:
“The energetic eccentric who has a passion for life and flowers, she is a force of nature, she lives to nourish but her force can overwhelm and even destroy and so she finds she is also lonely.”
The costume:
“The Flower Lady is a bizarre combination of extreme silhouette and monochrome plus colour madness.”
